Ep. 168: Life, Love, & Empowerment for Black Children: Dr. Raquel Martin

Black parents are tasked with the immense responsibility of parenting and providing love, empowerment, and speaking life into our children in an environment that may seek to adultify and dehumanize them. This places Black parents in a position where they are often forced to protect first and ask questions later. While this is understandable, it may also damage our relationships with our children.

This Sunday, May 28th, SonRise welcomes Dr. Raquel Martin, Psychologist and mother of two rambunctious boys, to discuss the impact of parenting out of racism-related fear, which she has observed professionally and personally. Join us as she reveals her passion for centering narratives that focus on embracing the humanity in our Black children and provides tangible resources that parents can explore.
