Ep 71. Living With Mental Health Issues And Addiction Under The Cloud Of Quasi-Independence: Dr. Rick Wallace

Today the nation celebrates Independence Day. Some might call that day "Free-ish." And what do you call it when you still have adult children you care for? Or when your grown children depend on you because they are grown but not financially or mentally stable? And how does being "Free-ish" affect our grown children as they navigate their lives? Finally, how does this relate to our empowerment as a community in general?

The fact that addiction and mental health in the Black community goes largely unchecked is unquestionable. What must also be understood is the massive long-range implication of untreated trauma, addiction, and mental health. The ramifications are far crippling and far-reaching. It is the responsibility of the Black community to meet this challenge and not depend on others to facilitate our interests. How do we do that? Let's talk about it.

Our returning expert Dr. Rick Wallace will bring us together to discuss moving away from the trajectory of trauma and garnering our power as parents, families, and a community. Dr. Wallace is an intellectual giant. You won't want to miss this conversation!
