Ep. 151: In Honor of Tyre Nichols: Dr. Rick Wallace Part 1

This week the nation was again devastated by the news of the tragic loss of Tyre Nichols. Nichols passed away on January 10, 2023, just three days after being brutally beaten by five officers of the Memphis Police Department following what appears to be an unwarranted traffic stop. Nichols was loved by many and is survived by a four-year-old son.

His untimely death again forces us to come to grips with the fact that Black lives are not valued in this country and that systems touted to have a function to "protect and serve" often, unfortunately, have very different outcomes for people of color. His death makes those of us with Black sons want to hold them just a little tighter as our hearts go out to another mother who will never see or hold her son again.
