Ep. 117: In Times Like These: Dr. Linda McGhee

For many people, our cups are overflowing with "stuff." In addition to being a caregiver, we all heard about the senseless domestic terrorism of mainly elderly Black people in Buffalo, New York. And he selected a grocery store with the hope that Black people would be "fearful wherever they go." He incited fear, anger, grief, and thoughts of retaliation, depending on who one asks. Many of us were scratching our heads as parents and caregivers of the mentally ill.

Add to our full plates the division over a woman's right to make decisions regarding her body, preparing our kids for the last few days of school, soaring gas prices, and a baby formula shortage. Lastly, people fought tooth and nail about the death of a man who brutally told men and women what was wrong with them; Vitriol ensued regarding how he will be remembered in history books. So yes, we have a full plate of "stuff" to deal with.

So it is refreshing to have our resident expert Dr. Linda McGhee back to teach us how to self-heal during these turbulent times. She will explore ways for parents to heal inner wounds that have been exposed during the pandemic and racial and civil unrest these past few years. Let's take the opportunity to look inward, acknowledge the hurt, start to heal, and emerge victoriously.
